One look down and you see grass fields and sprawling lakes as far as the eye can see. Some wild horses running across the fields, some cows, just exactly what you'd expect.

It's idyllic as fuck.

Then the words appear:

[ That's another snarl.]

Fine. How about I take the control of this damnable game from you?

First, I would make you a player in it. That you would have to face us.

[ He makes sure that his feet are well-planted, in case there's another shake or another drop. He also stows the knife in his belt before using his other hand to get a good grip.]

Then I would say that all who came into this game could leave as- [ he glances at Peter, then at Sebastian, and he thinks of the others, who are no doubt doing the same as they had ] could leave in the same state in which they came.

[ Even if it would certainly leave him just as doomed as he'd started, at least- at least one good man would be saved. It's more than he's ever really managed. Whatever life Nod'd managed, Charlie... they'd still been bound. They'd still been cursed. If he could restore even one good and decent soul-

It would be worth it.]

I would give proper rules, with costs laid out plain and blood called for what it is. And I would then make it so this game could never be played again except by those who wished to play it.

[ He breathes deep. ]

Would you take that, in exchange for Peter's life?

[ Of course it was.

Of course the gift that this Peter would give him would be freedom, freedom that the other Peter had ripped away from him all those centuries ago. Of course the last act of a good man was kindness.

Shit.]

And if I could exchange that gift. To give him life once again.

Would that be possible?

[ That gets him to stop.]

Truly?

So... outside of this place, in the world he came from... he'll be fine? He'll return to his loved ones?

...so is the freedom I've won for all Jamie's?

Or only for me?

Will another man suffer in Neverland under Peter's curse?

[ To think: there is another him, another Jamie, who is still doomed. Who is still stuck. And yet, it is a strange kind of joy: another Jamie, who will work eternally on the problem, who will find a way to destroy Neverland and kill Peter. Someone there to ensure that one day, no more children will die for that demon's pleasures.]

...then I would ask to take my leave.

[ A pause before he continues.]

I would take my leave... back to Peter's world. The one where he lives.

[ He can't go back to Neverland. And he hardly knows the modern world. Perhaps- perhaps with one friend. One person willing to listen, to give him a chance as he had here. One person in a new world.

That's really all you need, isn't it? Just... one.

Another Peter to lead him to another place.]
lost_first: (what the hell do I do with this?)

[ May the other Jamie forgive him. And perhaps share his joy in his freedom.]
